Mood Follows Action

Happy Friday! I’m writing this newsletter from rainy Greenport and quite honestly, I almost skipped another week of not sending this out. We’re with family and it’s been hard to squeeze time away to write and make this happen. But then I remembered one of my favorite quotes/life mantras. 

Mood follows action. 

I first heard about this concept on the Rich Roll podcast and then continued to hear a version of it on many interviews with star athletes, leading entrepreneurs, and others who’ve gone on to achieve great things. 

We may never feel like doing the hard things (not that this newsletter is hard per se, but it takes time) but if we push past whatever the current feeling may be and do the thing that we committed to, the thing that will push us to grow, a shift occurs. Once you complete the task, your mood changes and you feel better, proud, and accomplished.  

So here I am doing the “hard” thing. And I already feel better! Perhaps there is something you’ve been putting off or neglecting where you can apply this thinking to? Whatever that thing may be for you, I hope you get to it, enjoy the process, and come out happier on the other side. 

ps. I’m taking a pause on posting until mid September once we’re back to our regular schedule and Raffi is in school again! Thanks for sticking with me and I can’t wait to be back here again with you!
